DESCRIPTION. This complex boasts six ponds spanning 20 acres of water. Island Pond has tench and bream to 10 lb, eels 5 lb, carp 2 lb with a few 20 lb fish, pike 15 lb and small roach and rudd. First Pond has carp to 20 lb, pike 10 lb, lots of tench 8 lb and roach and perch. Wheel Pond is well suited to novices, with carp to 14 lb, tench 2 lb, crucians 1 lb and roach, rudd, perch and orfe. Linhay Pond has pike to 10 lb, tench 9 lb, bream 8 lb and roach and perch. Weedy Pond has carp to 20 lb, pike 10 lb, tench 6 lb and roach and perch. Finally, members only Dores Pond has carp to 35 lb, tench 12 lb, bream 10 lb, eels to 6 lb plus other species.

TACTICS. Stunning tench sport to maggot feeder with maggot on the hook; caster, corn or soft pellet are the alternatives. Carp to legered, hair-rigged boilies or big pellets over a few free offerings. No boilies on Linhay Pond. Bream to traditional feeder with a fishmeal groundbait and corn or pellet on the hook. On Wheel Pond fish a whip or short pole and maggot for mixed catches. Winter pike to float fished or legered small sea deadbaits.

GOOD SWIMS. For big tench, fish on the slope, as the first ledge falls away, not far out.

TICKETS. £6 per day; under-16s £2; 24-hours £10, in advance only from local tackle shops including the listed ones. Full NAFA permits (residents within 20 miles of Newton Abbot) £75 adults; £30 OAPs and registered disabled; £15 Under-16s. Associate membership (residing elsewhere) £50/£25; membership from Jan. 1.
