This video of Iain was recorded on location during an advertisment feature by top tackle firm Shimano that appeared in Angler’s Mail magazine.

The question of ‘big pit reel or Baitrunner?’ is closely examined. Many modern carp anglers use extra large big pit reels on small and medium sized waters which are – arguably – better suited to mid-sized carp fishing reels.

The video also sees Iain look at smaller water carp fishing situations, and rod selection.

Shimano’s new X-Aero Baitrunner reel range for 2014-15 has been specifically designed for the typical UK venue where lighter set-ups are best suited.

The X-Aero range features the biggest development in the Baitrunner Evolution since its release and utilises Shimano’s Aero Concept.

This has created a reel with a much larger spool, whilst retaining a regular compact body.

The spool size of this reel is actually 30% larger than standard Baitrunners of the same size, making it capable of casting in excess of 100 yards if required.

And the Shimano ST range offers the angler on a tighter budget an affordable lightweight reel with Shimano’s tried and tested Baitrunner system.
