The Bait-Tech Krill & Tuna Wafters come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

Description: 8 or 10 mm dumbell-shaped wafter hook baits (three different colours in each pot).

Ingredients: firm hook baits flavoured with Krill & Tuna.

My verdict: these ‘washed-out’ wafters follow Bait-Tech’s launch of Krill & Tuna boilies, and they contain the same nutritional LT94 fishmeal.

Diameter wise the 8 mm size I checked out were more like 6 mm, but the 10 mm looked spot on. Their sizes open up plenty of opportunities from a presentation point of view, appealing to match and specimen anglers alike.

I like the washed-out colours, the idea being that they look as if they’ve been in the water for some time, and therefore are safe to eat.

I also like the fact that you get a choice of three coloured baits in the same tub (White, Pink and Yellow), as fish will often show a preference for a particular colour.

When you unscrew the lid, you are greeted with a pungent aroma.

Banded or hair-rigged, they can be used with almost any method, be it with a Method feeder, PVA bag or stick rig, or without any feed at all.

Match them to the right hook size and pattern, so that they ‘waft’ around enticingly before being easily sucked in by a fish.

Price: £3.75 a pot.
