Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard selected the best products that caught his eye during 2016. Here's his lowdown on the Daiwa Emblem BR25A Reel ...
IF YOU’RE looking for an all-round freespool reel, that’s compact but will still cast, the Daiwa Emblem BR25A is one.
It’s built around the same shortened body as Daiwa’s successful Cast’izm BR, and features a 25 mm mini big pit spool, holding 270 m of 14 lb line, to offer top casting performance. That performance is especially impressive as it’s coupled with spool geometry that greatly improves your line lay.
Available in the one size, and more of a reel for medium-sized waters, it can still punch a good distance, if required.
The Emblem BR25A is a reel that will sit just as happily on carp rods for stalking or floater fishing as it will on a multiple set-up.
It also overlaps into other specimen fishing – for barbel on big rivers for example.
It has a fast enough retrieve as well, at 107 cm of line per crank of the handle.
Not to mention some quality Daiwa reel features including a High Impact Line Clip, Air Bail, Air Rotor, Twistbuster and Ultimate Tournament Drag.
Coming complete with six ball bearings, it’s a serious reel especially if you’re an all-rounder looking for a freespool design that you can depend on.
