WHETHER you are targeting pike, perch or zander, Sufix Advance offers several advantages.

Predators love areas where there’s structure, as they provide an ambush point, but you run the risk of breaking your line when fishing near them. Advance is a main line that has been designed to withstand these snaggy areas, as it is highly abrasion resistant, thanks to a special, durable layer.

Commonly found in braided lines, HMPE molecules are blended into this nylon, making it a tough, reliable line. Sufix report that it has 96 per cent knot strength, too.

It’s also a supple and sensitive line, with half the stretch of standard mono, making it a great choice for detecting bites, ‘feeling’ your lure as you work it through the water, and for setting hooks quickly, whether you are fishing a deadbait or crankbait.

Available on 150 m and 300 m spools, in diameters from 0.16 mm (6 lb) up to around 0.45 mm (40 lb), I’d opt for the Clear or Green colours when fishing deadbaits, switching to Yellow when lure fishing.

Price: from £6.99 for 150 m.
