The Middy MX-800 Pro-Limited Edition Clothing Set comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

Description: waterproof and breathable clothing.

Specifications: jacket and bib ‘n’ brace with a 5,000 mm waterproof rating and 3,000 gsm breathability rating; anti-pill fleece; Body-Fit (tailored) technology; soft, easy movement lined material.

Jacket: fleece-lined storm collar; quilted fabric lining; adjustable, elasticated storm cuffs; adjustable bottom edge; adjustable, fold-away peaked hood; fleece-lined pockets with zips; taped seams; one-way zip with storm flap.

Bib ‘n’ Brace: reinforced, double-skinned knee area; fleece-lined to the knee; Velcro and pop-studded flare for accommodating boots; taped seams; adjustable, elasticated straps; fleece-lined pockets.

Fleece: polyester, anti-pill material; high collar with zip; elasticated bottom edge.

My verdict: slip this clothing on and you’ll be warm and comfortable. It’s likely to be a pretty good good fit, too, thanks to Middy’s Body-Fit technology, and the soft, easy movement material barely makes a sound when you’re moving out.

I’m also happy to report that the clothing doesn’t restrict your shoulders when you’re casting, shipping back or feeding. You’re not ‘fighting’ the well-fitted suit when leaning forward to net a fish either.

I like the fact that the clothing comes with quilted and fleece linings, as it will keep you warm, and the fleece top with long sleeves is useful when you need an extra layer.

Fleece-lined pockets on both the main garments are welcome, as is the fleece-lined high collar, as it will help to keep cold draughts out.

It’s not a bad-looking suit, though you might struggle to keep the orange fleece clean.

Participating stockists are including a matching Middy t-shirt, cap and beanie to the three-piece combo, which are handy extras to have.

Price: £219.99.
