The Middy M-Tech Carp Commercial Line comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

THIS is an interesting main line, as it suits both float and feeder tactics.

Whether you’re fishing up in the water with a float, or punching out a Method feeder, this unique copolymer line is a great option.

Thanks to its Hard Shell, it has ‘water-walking’ properties for float fishing, but will sink quicker than standard monos once it’s pulled through the surface tension.

The Hard Shell, formed when it’s extruded through a highly polished die during manufacture, also improves the line’s resistance to abrasion, improves knot strength, and provides good casting properties, report Middy.

Being billed as ‘the best commercial carp line ever,’ it’s available in 0.16 mm (4.4 lb), 0.18 mm (5.2 lb), 0.20 mm (6.6 lb), 0.22 mm (8 lb), 0.25 mm (10 lb) and 0.28 mm (12 lb) sizes.

Thanks to the clever Hard Shell, the Middy team also report that there’s less refraction of light than with standard monos.

It’s supplied in a Method Brown colour, to match the bottom of a lot of commercials, on 300 m spools, enough to load three reels.

Price: £7.50 – 300 m.
