The Middy Arco-Tech K-306 10-11 ft Carp Feeder Rod comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

Description: feeder rod for carp.

Specifications: developed by top match angler Chris Cameron, this rod has a soft, parabolic action, but with a reserve of power in the Kevlar-wrapped mini butt for casting and playing big fish. A 1 ft extension can be added easily. Slim, full-cork handle; KTS ‘smooth slow’ guides; an angled butt guide to assist casting and guard against wraps; supplied with two sensitive Trigger Tips, for showing subtle bites.

My verdict: a decent length for casting rigs accurately to island margins that are 35-40 yards away.

Being able to add a butt extension is handy, especially as you don’t need to break down your tackle.

I’m hearing that anglers are loving the super-sensitive, Light and Medium Trigger Tips, which are ideal for spotting bites when the fish are in a fickle mood.

The rod has a 10 lb main line rating, an 8 lb hook length rating and a casting weight rating of 50 g, so don’t think that it won’t handle bigger fish.

Hunt around and you’re likely to see them for less than £100, which makes them an attractive proposition, whether you are looking for a pellet or Method feeder rod.

Price: £129.99.
