The Mainline Match Pro Active Groundbait comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.
Description: a sweet groundbait aimed at attracting roach, skimmers and bream.
Ingredients: sweet biscuits, cooked cereals, breadcrumb, sunflower meal, maize and ground hemp.
My verdict: mixed on the dry side, you’ll be able to see some of this active groundbait rising to the surface, drawing fish down to your hook bait on the bottom.
You can then start introducing harder balls of groundbait packed with chopped worm, casters, dead maggots, corn or hemp. The blend is designed to attract and hold fish in your swim, and can also be fed in a feeder.
If you prefer a fishmeal-based groundbait, check out Mainline Sweet Marine. They both come in 2 kg bags.
Price: £6.99 for 2 kg.
