The Kodex Serenity 36 in. Landing Net comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

SPECIMEN brand Kodex have clearly put a lot of thought into this Serenity Landing Net Head.

Coming with a 36 in. span, it’ll make a useful pike net. It also comes with strong arms that push into a light but strong spreader block with a brass thread. The spreader block has a slot on each side for an isotope, to help you net fish in the dark.

With an anti-snag, fish-friendly mesh, the finished result is a net head that is easy to handle and manoeuvre.

Strong, polymer cord guides help keep the weight down; the cloth rim has seven rows of stitches, for strength; and the mesh is a subtle green colour, to reduce the chance of spooking fish.

Part of the Serenity range, I also like the 32 in. drop on this net, as it is useful for resting fish in the water before unhooking or returning them.

Price: £29.99.
