DAM Quick Contrast Reels come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

DAM QUICK reels now include  this front-drag, fixed-spool  range.

There are six sizes in the range, including a DAM Quick Contrast 405 FD and a 408 FD, with capacities of 111 m and 136 m of 0.18 mm line respectively.

I reckon they are ideal for a bit of light lure fishing, bomb and feeder work.

There are also 420, 430, 440 and 450 sizes, for bigger specimens, including carp and pike, and they even look suited to a spot of sea fishing.

They have four ball bearings and a double-anodized aluminium spool, making them braid friendly.

The ultra-thick, stainless steel bail wire gets the thumbs up from me. I like the soft-touch handle knob, too. An Anti-Vibro system rotor and Anti-Twist line roller complete the main feature package.

These DAM Quick reels also come with a graphite spare spool, apart from the two smaller sizes. I think the black and white graphics work, too.

Price: from £29.99.
