Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard is the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week. Here's his lowdown on the Korum Rodiac Freespool Reel…

BOASTING 4000, 5000 and 6000 sizes, Korum have covered a lot of methods from small carp to tench, barbel even a bit of piking with this free-spool reel range.

They won’t break the bank either.

Coming with five ball bearings and a needle bearing, and 5.5:1 gear ratios, these are tidy looking reels with a good sized shallow aluminium spool, decent line lay, anti-twist titanium line roller and oversized aluminium bail – designed to go out there and bag – big fish and small.

The folding aluminium handle gets the thumbs up, the front drag and line friendly line clips.

Capacities for the 4000, 5000 and 6000 are 225 yards of 12 lb, 290 yards of 12 lb and 350 yards of 12 lb respectively.

The reels also come with a handy deeper graphite spare spool. Not a bad range at all.

Price: £39.99-£49.99.
