ROACH ace Charlie Kemmett spotted the slightest lift bites while float fishing, but he hit them, to put together this amazing haul of specimen redfins.

Fishing at Winkton on the Hampshire Avon, Charlie is pictured above holding his best fish, of 3 lb 1 oz.

The others scaled 2 lb 10 oz, 2 lb 7 oz, 2 lb 4 oz and two of 2 lb 1 oz, adding another of 2 lb 4 oz in a 40 lb-plus haul.

The catch came on the Christchurch AC-run Winkton stretch, just six days after another haul of five 2 lb-plus roach to 2 lb 10 oz.

Charlie, 70, explained: “I fished a 6 g sliding Bolo’ float with 4 mm bread punch on a 16 hook in 12 ft of water.

“I had four No.8 Stotz shot four inches from the hook, with the hook an inch off the bottom, and this allowed me to see the slightest lift bite.

“And I can honestly say that the float never sailed under the whole of the session, just the slightest dink of a lift bite lift and they were hooked.

“This gave me the greatest satisfaction, as there’s nothing better than knowing what’s happening in the swim.

“Without any doubt this Christchurch ticket is the one to have,” concluded Charlton-All-Saints, Wiltshire-based Charlie.
