ANGLERS are being warned they are going to face drought and record low river levels in 2012 unless there’s massive rainfall this winter.

After a very dry summer and autumn across much of central, east and southern England, the Environment Agency even granted a pumping order last week for Anglian Water.

They have now got a permit to pump up to 17 million litres a day until next March into its Pitsford Reservoir from the River Nene which supplies around 600,000 customers around Northampton .

And South East Water has applied to increase the amount of water it abstracts from Ardingly Reservoir from the Sussex Ouse.
