THE Pike Anglers Club's press officer Alan Dudhill recorded his biggest fish of the season with this fine 26 lb snapper from a Leicestershire gravel pit that he’s fancied producing a biggie for a while.

Alan said: “It’s full of large rudd, roach and bream so the ecology certainly pointed to it being a good pike water.

“After a few blanks it was obvious that there weren’t many pike in the water but the absence of jacks is usually a good sign. Something bigger must be eating them!

“So I set my stall out, paternostering large herrings to present them on the top of weed beds in mid water and in full view.”
