ONE OF the biggest and best run angling clubs in the UK – and probably the world – has just successfully won the fishing rights to top bagging lake Gailey Upper Reservoir in Staffordshire.

Cheshire-based Prince Albert Angling Society put in the best bid when British Waterways put the 34-acre venue up to tender. Gailey is rated by venues experts as “the new Drayton”, after Northamptonshire’s Drayton Reservoir near Daventry which became the best easy specimen and match fishery of its type.

The wealthy club has 230 venues fished by 8,500 members.
