DAVE PALMER is so nuts about eels he has a tattoo of one on his leg – but a session for his favourite species produced a record-rocking 20 lb 2 oz zander.

Walsall, West Midlands-based Dave struck on the River Severn, which produced the current British record zander of 21 lb 5 oz. That was also a surprise being caught when and how it was – at the start of the 2007 season by teenager James Benfield using halibut pellet for bream on the lower Severn.

Freelance tattoo artist Dave’s full story is in this week’s Angler’s Mail magazine. Get the mag every week for top tips, big news, best products, and venues that are in form.
