The Chichester, West Sussex-based rod doesn’t normally report his catches to the angling press but has since changed his mind after catching the big ‘un from Mill Farm in the same county.
The 32-year-old told the Mail: ‘It was intentionally caught on appropriate tackle, it is without doubt one of the highlights of my angling career so far.
Nowadays I don’t usually report my catches any further than my friends list on Facebook and a few of the guys in the local tackle shop, but I will be putting a concerted effort into the Pallatrax Cup this year so what better way to kick things off than with a record?
‘It had been a tough day with no other silver bream falling to either rod, I’d been getting pestered by carp to mid doubles on the pellets.
‘When I hooked it I had a good idea that it was a big silver all the way in and it looked positively huge when it was just beyond netting range,’ he added.
