THE carp world has lost one of its greatest pioneers who shaped the sport as we know it today, Duncan Kay.

British Carp Study Group member Duncan was one of the first men to make commercially produced carp baits available to the masses, via Slyme Baits and boilies such as Red Karpi, back in the late 1970s and early 80s.
He was also known for setting up the Mid Northants fishery, and after those fish were moved into nearby Ringstead one of them went on to break the British record twice in the mid 1995 – for Roddy Porter and Alex White, at a top weight of 55 lb 6 oz.
