SEALS have been spotted on the river stretch where Steve Double caught this predator of a far more angler-friendly type – a cracking 25 lb-plus pike.

Steve said: ‘We were fishing a weir of the River Thames when I hooked into this monster! After a good scrap it almost jumped in to the dinghy I was fishing from.

But the monster couldn’t be accurately weighed as it bottomed out 25 lb scales – but experts believe it could have been as much as 33 lb and could potentially go above the Thames record this winter.
