THIS 8 lb 4 oz mullet is the biggest of the year so far, and was landed by a coarse angler fishing a southern river.

Gary Truelove was pleasure fishing in an area about a mile and half from the sea – revealed precisely in this week’s Angler’s Mail, where he has had good bags of roach.

He was using an open-end feeder filled with brown crumb and hemp and three red maggots on the hook, at midday on a rising tide.
