BarbelIAN HARTLEY has smashed the Derbyshire Derwent barbel record with a 17 lb 10 oz beauty – and he predicts there’s more to come from the ever improving Trent tributary.

Ian came within a whisker of the river record a couple of months ago with a 16 lb 12 oz giant that was just below a 17 lb 4 oz beast caught around the same time in July by Wayne Tooth.

But Ian put his name on the record list with the giant that fell within seconds of his first cast on his latest session to an Earl of Harrington AC club stretch.
