THE recent mild spell has brought the eels out of hibernation and on the feed.

A two-hour session starting at dusk on Farnham AS’s Badshot Lea Pond threw up a surprise 5 lb 13 oz eel for Mail contributor and fishing guide, Duncan Charman. He actually was targeting catfish, another species to have stirred in the past fortnight.

Korum consultant Duncan said: ‘l had a couple of hours to kill so having my catfish rods made up from an earlier guiding trip that provided four catfish to a customer earlier in the week thought it worth casting my popped up lobworms to see if l could get some action for myself.’
