KEVIN CHARMAN has certainly been getting in between the crucians at Johnson’s Lake on the Godalming AS run Marsh Farm complex.

Determined that a 4 lb crucian was possible, Kevin, 47, from Yateley in Hampshire, has had to wade through plenty of 2s and 3s but after the capture of over 30s three-pounders in just four sessions finally slid the net under one weighing 4 lb 3 oz, just 6.9 oz short of the British record, along with four other three’s to 3 lb 13 oz.

Kevin’s has adopted a small pole float to take a small isotope and uses Sonubaits Tiger fish 8mm pellets on a size 16 PR36 barbless hook, a 5 lb fluorocarbon hooklink and 6 lb main and introduces a few balls of Sonubaits Supercrush Green before he starts along with a Preston 13 ft Carbonactive rod.
