GERMAN duo Horst Grieb and Benjamin Gründer had to joing forces to land one of the biggest wels catfish ever with this 117.5 kilo – 259 lb – beast from Italy’s River Po.
They were fishing with Rhino Black Cat guided tours and the successful method was a “top-water” bait presentation from the overhanging trees using thin release lines.
Hungarian angler Zsedely Attila set a new all-tackle IGFA record 297 lb wels catfish from the Po in 2011.
