ONE of the biggest fly-caught pike of all time, estimated at 35 – 37 lb after the angler’s scales bottomed out at 31 lb 8 oz, has been landed at Chew Valley Lake.

Andy Cheetham, from Manchester, endured a gruelling two-day blank before the PB pike picked up his fly.

The Pike Fly Fishing Association (www.pffa.co.uk) member said: ‘I had the take in about 10 ft of water on a roach pattern fly – the fight was awesome and lasted approximately 15 minutes. It was in superb condition and swam off strongly.’
