NON-native carp that can grow to over 100 lb have been removed and humanely destroyed as part of ongoing efforts by the Environment Agency.
One bighead carp and two silver carp all around the 40 lb mark were netted from Shakerley Mere in a Cheshire.
Bighead and silver carp can reach 100 lb-plus in weight but outside their native range they can also be highly invasive, out-competing native fish for food and habitat and introducing parasites and disease.
