A MASSIVE pollution on the Wyrley and Essington Canal in the West Midlands saw 10,000 prime fish perish – but a lot more have been saved from certain death.

A slug of pollution hit around Wolverhampton and Wednesfield following a warehouse fire in Bilston. An investigation is ongoing by the Environment Agency.

But the EA and British Waterways were quick to act and have moved over 22,000 fish to a safe location within the canal network.
