TOP carpers Lee Jackson and Ian Chillcott paired themselves together in a match for the first time ever and put all their vast experience to good use by winning the World Carp Angling Championships held on New York’s St. Lawrence River.

The dedicated pair got just a few hours sleep over the grueling five night match to put together an awesome 122 carp catch for 1,857 lb 3 oz to top the 61 pair event.

Internet reports suggested they won $30,000 – in fact it was $16,800 -but the kind-hearted pair had already agreed to share any money won with the six other UK anglers. That meant the eight lads ended up with about £1,200 each.

Former British carp record holder Lee said: ‘It was grueling and we only had about nine hours sleep each over the whole session.’
