THE war on fish-guzzling cormorants hit new heights last week with the Angling Trust passing over a large petition to the Government while prime-time BBC News carried a large news item on the same day.

As we exclusively reported in last week’s issue, the Trust handed over the petition carrying over 16,000 signatures to DEFRA fisheries minister Richard Benyon.

We had revealed last week that Chris Tarrant and UK Music boss Feargal Sharkey were due to help hand it over and they both did just that in Westminster last Tuesday.

But the campaign got a massive boost that morning when BBC covered the story.
