AS predicted in angling’s No.1 weekly, the battle is firmly on between Chew Valley and Wykeham for the British record pike - and it’s really heated up with the capture of a 44 lb 6 oz monster.



The latest giant came from Bristol Water-controlled Chew where pikers were able to get back on for the first of the 2014 sessions.

The 1,200-acre reservoir quickly gave some fine predators to 38 lb for boats, but the biggest came from the bank at Wick Green to the rods of Paul Miller.

The 25-year-old, from Liverpool, Merseyside set a new venue record, bettering the 43 lb fish boated by Tom Mills last November.
