ANGLERS have been stunned by the news that CEMEX Angling, owners of the biggest portfolio of fishing waters in the country, is to be sold along with its fisheries.

Famous waters such as Yateley, Horton, Burghfield, Frimley Longfield and Fox Pool will be offered to the highest bidder at a sale price estimated to total £37 million.

Internet forums have been buzzing with speculation about the possible loss of historic fisheries to developers, bird watchers or for landfill sites.

And with just one guaranteed full season left on these fisheries, fears have been expressed about anglers resorting to moving the most sought-after specimens.

A total of 19 sites are included in the public sale, which is being handled by property agents FennWright.
