FOUR coarse species records have been ratified by the British Record Fish Committee – one more remains in limbo and another has been rejected.

Accepted for the list were Ken Brown’s record equalling perch of 6 lb 3 oz from Wilstone Reservoir, Hertfordshire; Gary Bennett’s silver bream of 2 lb 15 oz from Mill Farm, West Sussex which was subsequently superseded by Gareth Evans’ 3 lb 4 oz silver from the same venue; and a belated confirmation of Phil Smith’s record equalling 4 lb 9 oz crucian carp (pictured).

However Scot Crook’s British record bream of 23 lb – even through scale checks that showed the true weight of the fish to be 22 lb 12 oz.
