AN ANGLER who made his name with another species is back with a stunning summer specimen.

Former British zander record holder David Lavender spends much of his angling time targeting specimen carp nowadays, and has caught scores of big rudd along the way.

None of his big rudd have been bigger than this 3 lb 5 oz beauty from a secret Fen stillwater.

A legered 15 mm Nash Tangerine Dream boilie tempted the golden beauty for retired carpenter David.

Ely, Cambridgeshire-based David said: “I’ve never previously reported fish caught accidentally when after other species, but this rudd was an absolutely perfect fish unlike most others which tend to be battle scarred old warriors. It’s also a personal best for me.”
