AS BRITAIN was gripped by the big freeze, and snow, the first major angling show of 2013 got called off. It has been re-arranged for 16/17 March.
The British Carp and Angling Show was set for this weekend (January 19 and 20) at the Royal Norfolk Showground near Norwich.
A host of big names including John Bailey, Bob Nudd, John Wilson, Matt Hayes and KevinNash set to attend plus several top tackle firms, smaller players and discounters.
But warnings of heavy snow and hazardous road conditions caused increasing question marks over this and other angling-related activities, with little hope for improvement from respected weather forecasters including the BBC.
So on Thursday morning (January 17) show organisers cancelled, stating: ‘Due to the extreme weather conditions and the forecast for heavy snow all day Friday and Saturday, the show has now been rescheduled for a later date. Advanced tickets will be permitted at the new show date.
‘Because of the severe weather situation health and safety regulations have made it impossible to run this event safely – thank you for your understanding.
‘Any enquiries please email Maddie@aztecevents.co.uk please do not call the office as you can appreciate the lines are extremely busy (all exhibitors are being contacted).’
The organisers updated their message to confirm 16/17 March as the new date.
The Brentwood Carp Show is still set to go ahead on the weekend of January 26 and 27.
