A WORLD record was set last week when a pair of cased fish were sold for an astonishing £18,000 at auction!

The cased barbel of 14 lb 3 oz and 14 lb were caught by unknown anglers on the Hampshire Avon in 1934 when the British record then stood at 14 lb 6 oz.

An unknown buyer paid the huge sum at Angling Auctions of Chiswick in London – but for the same price could have fished the river’s famous day ticket barbel stretch the Royalty 1,440 times!
