The Carp Spirit Arma-Skin Speed-R Shelter comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.
Description: quick-to-erect shelter.
Specifications: 10,000 mm waterproof Arma-Skin material with a 5,000 breathability rating; brolly-style erection system with four rods and a fibreglass tension bar; heavy-duty groundsheet; zip-on front section with two windows; three-layered zipped door with window; fibreglass frame; rear ventilation windows with Arma-Skin outer and mosquito mesh inner; two Velcro rod supports. Dimensions (WDH): 290 x 230 x 150 cm. Arma-Skin Winter Skin also available. My verdict: I was impressed when I first set eyes on the Arma-Skin material, as it looks as if it will last.
Perfect for shorter sessions, this shelter will give you a lot of protection from the elements.
The three windows in the front panel and the rear ventilation are useful features. I’ve heard it takes half the time of a normal bivvy to erect.
You can leave the zipped front panel off if you want to have a panoramic view of your swim.
The Winter Skin offers extra protection for fishing in more extreme conditions, and it still gives you the option of accessing the rear ventilation windows.
This is a versatile system that offers anglers full weather protection. Prices: £364.99; Winter Skin £159.99.
