The Carp Spirit Arma-Skin Everest 1-Man Bivvy comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

Description: a high-specification bivvy.

Specifications: tough, strong and durable, this bivvy is constructed from Arma-Skin fabric with a 10,000 mm waterproof rating and a 5,000 breathability rating; Four rib, pram-hood aluminium frame; fully removable front panel with a mosquito mesh window option, multi-configuration door with an Arma-Skin, mosquito mesh or a clear PVC window; mosquito vents at the rear; Velcro rod supports; heavy-duty groundsheet; pegs and carry bag; winter skin available. Dimensions (WDH): 262.5 x 240 x 142.5 cm.

My verdict: a solid, long-lasting bivvy with a matching high-tech winter skin available.

The Arma-Skin material looks as if it’ll handle harsh weather, as it has a decent waterproof rating, and I like the breathability rating, too, as it will avoid condensation forming inside the bivvy.

The material has a small amount of stretch, to cope with expansion and contraction caused by hot and cold weather.

The mosquito mesh panels provide the right level of light during daylight hours.

The extended front rib has a peak, which provides extra protection from driving rain. The two rear mosquito vents provide air circulation in hot weather.

You can attach a winter skin for even more protection from the weather, it will also provide a small porch and a little more storage space.

If you remove the front panel with the winter skin in place, you’ll create enough room for two bedchairs.

A spacious bivvy, it looks as if it has been built to last, which does make the price attractive.

Prices: £354.99. Winter Skin £224.99.
