2014 HAS started much in the same vein as 2013, with plenty of carp getting caught and some awesome new products being launched.

Last year was truly unbelievable for Fox and saw the company go from strength to strength and I can’t see it being any different next year. With a load of new products in the pipeline this year you guys are not going to be disappointed.

The first big new product of the year that we announced was the Supa Brolly Compact and Supa Brolly System Compact, the smaller brothers to their 60” framed award-winning Super Brolly siblings. It would be fair to say that the Supa Brolly was the shelter to have last year and whilst literally thousands of you purchased the Supa Brolly and Supa Brolly Systems, we were inundated with requests for a smaller framed version, from the guys who fish venues where shelter space is restricted.

As always we listen to the public and the ‘Compact’ was born, a 50” version which retains all the same great features as the original, such as the revolutionary STS space saving mechanism. We have also made a few additions to the ‘Compact’ most noticeable of which are the two mozie mesh vents that we have added at the rear of the brolly which will help improve air flow, cooling you down on a hot sunny day.

Another neat new product that we have brought to market are the Black Label Power Grip Line Clips. These are cool little clips that are attached to your rod in front of the reel seat and hold the line against the blank of the rod allowing your line to be set at an acute angle down to your bobbin giving you better bite indication.

The clips have been designed with a soft rubber inner which will protect both your rod and your line. Plus we have added a small recess which your line sits in when clipped up. This removes the possibility of your line being damaged which has been a complaint of many when using other line clips.

Whilst January may have been a complete wash out on the weather front, it certainly has not stopped those carp from feeding. There has been some superb captures over the past month with loads of the Fox team staying one step ahead of the carp.

Ian ‘Chilly’ Chillcott has been regularly putting fish on the bank with a host of 20s and even a 30-pounder that is believed to be over 50 years old. His ever faithful Arma Point SSC hooks with Camotex Soft Hooklink causing the downfall of some stunning carp.

Mark Bartlett has been absolutely hauling, as per usual. A day session was all he needed to put 49 carp on the bank up to mid doubles. Yellow Zig Alignas fished in amongst Sloppy Spod mix at 10ft in 18ft of water did the business for the West Country lad. Top bombing indeed.

Tom ‘The Machine’ Maker was also smashing them up over at Thorp Lea bagging 23 fish up to mid-20s fishing Rapide solid bags over a baited area of hemp and Sticky Baits ‘Winter Berry’.

It just goes to show that this winter is a little bit special in terms of fish captures and if you ever wanted to fill your album with winter carp, now is the time. So get out there and give it a go!
