Romanians on their way to winning the World Carp Fishing Championships 2012.

KORDA CARP TEAM ENGLAND finished a disappointing 18th out of 20 teams in the 2012 World Carp Fishing Championships over the weekend.

We have a quick look at the results here in the Monday Carp Blog – and we bring you a follow up blog from England sponsors Korda here tomorrow.

Host nation Romania are the new World Champions of carp angling, finishing the testing small fish-packed event just ahead of Bulgaria, followed by Serbia and  Bulgaria.

Competing at Lake Corbu in Constanta county, there was more gold for the locals in the shape of Romanian duo Fasie Stefan and Roman Felix – each team has three pairs fishing together. Their combined 76.378 kilos (259 fish) to win A section was ahead of their countrymen in the C sector, Claudiu Lukacs and Catalin Ureche.

Biggest fish was 12.980 kg (28 lb 10 oz) to a Bulgarian. See below for full team result, and be sure to check back here tomorrow (Tuesday) for our Korda carp blog.
