Thursday is our Big Fish Blog and it’s the turn of Marukyu, the Japan-based bait innovators with products specially designed to catch UK fish.

The words below come to us from their man Nick Marlow (pictured right), the well-travelled former editor of Tackle Trade World.

IT’S been a crazy month here at Marukyu and has left me little time to go fishing!

With that said, there have been some amazing captures over the past few weeks, despite the very up and down weather. More on those later…

Personally, I have been very busy preparing for The Big One at Farnborough this weekend. The show looks to be the biggest event yet and of course Marukyu has a large part to play at this event (as does Angler’s Mail!)

In fact I have heard that Angler’s Mail will be launching something a bit special at the event – and look forward to finding out more about it myself at the event!

Marukyu will be at the Big One with their top JPZ baits! The man with them here is Clint Walker.

Marukyu will be at the event showcasing its products and hopefully giving some lucky visitors a sneak glimpse at some of its new products. It’s a massive event and if you’ve not been before, it’s well worth the trip. Check out for more details…

A quick look at Facebook shows me that while I have struggled on time, many of you have managed to get out and catch a few!

In fact our newly appointed media manager, Clint Walker, has really had his hands full with what’s going on, on the Facebook ( and twitter (@marukyuuk) sites.

Clint has now been with us for a few weeks and is really getting into the swing of things. And with weekly competitions, giveaways, information and more tips and tricks than you could shake a stick at – the Facebook page is well worth a look.

In other developments, the Marukyu Credence range of specialist baits is now near completion. The launch range will include unique pellets, two boilie ranges in 10mm, 14mm and 18mm varieties, a range of hookbaits that will literally blow you away, and a new additive which can be used to boost anything. Seriously – it bonds to anything it touches and is truly smelly!

And finally… Marukyu has just returned from the Salon des Peches exhibition in Nantes, France – where it scooped the award for most innovative product with a new type of groundbait made from sea urchins! To find out more about this product – and a whole host of others – check out the Marukyu website ( over the next few weeks!

Marukyu wins most innovative product, the trophy is seen here with UK chief John Loftus (centre).
