RIVER WEAR, DURHAM CITY, COUNTY DURHAM
DESCRIPTION. Durham City AC control the fishing, in between the boundary markers, on the banks as listed on the diagram. The river holds some very decent sized species including barbel to 10 lb, chub to 6 lb 8 oz, bream to 6 lb, some roach to 2 lb 8 oz, dace to 1 lb plus the occasional but very large winter pike.
TACTICS. Leger hair-rigged large pellets or boilies for the bigger barbel. Try feeder fishing bread or bread paste for the chub. Chub, roach and dace can also feature to float fished maggot or caster, with loose feed and hemp. Try feeder fishing bread or worm for bream, maggot can sometimes score.
GOOD SWIMS. Opposite the mouth of the stream or above the second weir.
TICKETS. Members only. Durham City AC fees are: adults £50, OAPs, registered disabled and students £35, intermediates (16-19 years) £20, under-16s £10. A member can buy a Guest Ticket.
