DESCRIPTION. Keighley AC control this half-mile length of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, just part of a nine-mile section. It’s about 5 ft deep in the track and is a very good length for roach to 1 lb 12 oz. Also bream to 6 lb, perch to 3 lb, and gudgeon, the occasional carp to 30 lb and maybe a tench or two. Pike can top 20 lb.
TACTICS. Roach to float fished pinkie or big maggot in the summer, and if you can get them on caster and hemp they’ll be bigger fish. Bream and skimmers will also accept caster. As the cooler weather arrives try squatt for roach, but punched bread can be deadly. Use sea deadbaits for winter pike.
GOOD SWIMS. Try at the back of the church or by the moored boats.
