TELL US why you love fishing – in a few words (seven words or less) or as a poem – and you would win great prizes! Yes, our 2013 Angler’s Mail Poetry Competition is here!
Each winner will get their on the new Paul Brett Viator Travel Guitar from Vintage, worth £229. Plus our winners also get a Korum rod and reel. Winning entries will be published in Angler’s Mail magazine.
Our competition judge, music and Izaak Walton maestro Paul Brett named the stunning small guitar after a character in Walton’s first edition, Viator (Latin for Traveller). Click below to see Paul demonstrate, and explain this year’s competition.
Paul said: ‘Following on from my successful Paul Brett six and 12-string guitars by Vintage, I am proud to present the new Viator travel guitar.
‘This guitar will suit both beginners and professionals who want to have a great sounding and affordable guitar that they can fit into small spaces for travelling convenience.
‘I have tried most styles on it, from blues, jazz, plectrum and picking through to classical, folk and open tunings – and yes, with lighter strings on it will play beautifully in Terz tuning. The ‘Viator’ is one little packet of dynamite!
PLUS! We also have great backing from top tackle brand Korum. Both 2013 winners will also get the option of Korum Barbel Rod and a KXI60 reel or a CS Series 13ft Float with a CS Series 3000 reel.
These new Barbel rods are truly stunning, with superb actions, customised to suit the needs of the modern big-fish river angler. With white tops to aid bite detection, full cork handles and strong double-legged guides, they’re rods to last for many a river season. Teamed with the KXI60 Freespin reel, a real workhorse with a powerful drag, you’d be hard pushed to find a better outfit for barbel fishing.
And the CS Float is ideal for practically any float fishing situation. Perfect for both lakes and rivers, with wagglers or stick floats, this match-style blank has the power for commercial carp but is still fast enough in the tip for shy biting silvers. Matched with a CS Series power rear drag reel, you have a lightweight combination that packs a mighty punch, to cover a wide range of fishing needs.
