The Middy MX-800 Clothing comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

MIDDY have taken the knowledge they have gleaned from their previous, award-winning clothing, to launch a new, top-end, MX-800 clothing range, aimed at match anglers.

It’s smart, it’s eye-catching, it’s practical and it boasts Body-Fit technology.

Take if from me, it’s snug in all the right places, but gives you freedom of movement in others places, to allow you to perform all those angling tasks. The MX-800 jacket isn’t too tight in the shoulder area, allowing you to easily overhead cast, and it has that little bit of extra space in the crotch, allowing you to comfortably put a fish into your keepnet.

The hood on the jacket has also been specially shaped, allowing 180-degree vision, for tasks such as flicking a stick float out and then following it downstream without your field of vision being compromised.

As a three-piece set, it’ll lend itself to a variety of conditions, allowing you to utilise one or both of the top layers.

Available in M, L, XL and XXL sizes, here’s the spec you can expect on the individual garments…

MX-800 Jacket. Boasts a 5,000 waterproof rating and a 3,000 breathability rating, so expect to stay dry and comfortable.

This soft feel jacket, with waterproof taped seams and easy movement, comes with a quilted lining, fleece-lined pockets, and a high collar for extra warmth and protection.

With added comfort provided by the adjustable, foldaway, peaked hood, adjustable bottom edge and adjustable elasticated storm cuffs.

MX-800 Bib ‘n’ Brace. Made of the same matching material as the jacket, with adjustable, elasticated shoulder straps and a wide bottom leg opening, making it easier when you’re slipping them over your boots. You’ll appreciate the softness and overall ‘cut’ of the bib ‘n’ brace, especially when sitting down.

It’s good to see that the knee area has been double skinned, and that Middy have continued the fleece lining down to the knee, where you want it. They also have fleece-lined the pockets, which can make a big difference when temperatures start to tumble.

Price: Jacket £99.99. Bib ‘n’ Brace £79.99. Fleece £39.99. The shop around price for the three-piece set could be as low as £160.
