Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard selected the best products that caught his eye during 2016. Here's his lowdown on the Greys Prodigy PB Rods ...
APTLY named by Greys, there are four PB Twin Tip Rods and three dedicated PB Barbel Rods in this family.
Well made and well thought out between them they cover a lot of specimen fishing on stillwaters and rivers.
From the 11 ft Twin Tip with a 1 lb Avon top, plus a quivertip carrier with 1, 2 and 3 oz tips – a useful rod for the likes of big perch and roach, to a slightly heavier 1.5 lb version and then 12 ft Twin Tips with 1.5 lb and 2 lb tops or a 1.75 lb, and 2.25 lb top pairing for bigger fish or heavier payloads.
This is a very versatile range. And that’s not including the PB Barbel range.
The latter are all 12-footers with a choice of a 1.75 lb, 2.25 lb or 2.75 lb test Avon tops, and a quivertip carrier too, carrying either 2, 3 and 4 oz quivers, 3, 4, and 5 oz quivers or 4, 5 and 6 oz ‘tips respectively.
They cover everything from rolling methods and pellet leading on small rivers, right through to floodwater conditions and big feeders on the likes of the Trent and Severn.
All these rods are well built with quality fittings too, including braid-safe SiC line guides.
