Angler’s Mail – No.1 for match fishing and all the best reports in modern angling – brings you this special rapid report direct from the 2012 World Championships in the Czech Republic. It’s from our man on the spot, Dave Johnson, who runs Matchangler.com

Midlands matchman Sean Ashby became England’s newest match fishing World Champion.

Ashby on top of the world

While Drennan Team England team expectations where quashed, on the final day of the 2012 World Championships, long time team regular, Sean Ashby, fulfilled his wildest dreams and triumphed on a disappointing River Morava in the Czech Republic.

Angler’s Mail can confirm the Starlets man scored a perfect 2pts to achieve the ultimate goal of every match angler’s dream, and he did it with bleak!

The team’s disappointment was tempered with new World Champion Sean’s success but as co-manager Mark Downes commented, we’ll always be at a disadvantage when it comes to competing on this type of venue.

The team’s 6th place was a measure of how this venue required a specialist approach.
