MAVER MATCH THIS BARBLESS METHOD FEEDER

£1.99
These hooks come at an excellent price and with ten hooks it’s a bargain. Shame the tying and line quality let these down as the MT8 hooks are very strong and look the perfect shape. The supplied sizes, from 10 down to 18 will suit all bait choices, with each tied to sensible diameter line. The line choices, from 10 lb to 7 lb are a little stronger than most on test. Try these for more demanding situations. Each of the 10 cm (4 in.) hook lengths is supplied on an individual card in a separate plastic sleeve for ease of handling.

PRESTON INNOVATIONS PR36 HAIR RIGS

£1.99
PR36 hooks are a popular choice for many commercial carp applications. The ones here are well tied to suitable diameter line and run from 10 to 18. All knots are well tied, but the hair seems over long and will only suit large single baits or double offerings. The base of the loop in the hair is 21 mm away from the bend of the hook and the swivel point is well up towards the eye of the hook. These factors make this range more suitable for bigger baits or bigger fish. Smaller fish may be able to eject baits easily. There’s eight hooks per pack.

PRESTON INNOVATIONS HAIR RIGS WITH BAIT BANDS

£2.49
This range of hooks-to-nylon are very well tied with PR36 hooks and robust line. The line is slightly thicker than stated, thus making these stronger than claimed. Running from size 10 to size 18, they are each tied to an appropriate strength line and cover all popular baits for the Method feeder. The incorporated bait band can be used with both hard and soft baits. The hair is a short length, suiting single baits. All knots are very neat. Comes in the same 10 cm (4 in.) length as most on test here and packets of eight hooks.

MIDDY METHOD FEEDER

£2.30
Strange choice of spade end hooks gives some cause for concern and may lead to cut offs. Otherwise these hooks have a lot to commend them. Each packet contains three each of two different trace lengths. The 6 cm (2 in.) length is a brilliant idea, offering very close bait presentation. The other supplied length is the popular 10 cm (4 in). Three hook sizes offered, with 10, 12 and 14 each tied to slightly lighter line than the competition. Lifting the Middy offering close to the top is the quick-change clip on each hook length. Soft Jeli hair stops add to the package.

DRENNAN EYED BARBLESS CARP METHOD

£2.25
Another well thought out offering from Drennan. The Barbless Carp Feeder hook is well known for its strength and swept point, which aids hook-ups. Tied to quality line in a slightly shorter 8 cm (3 in.), the range looks great for Method bagging. From size 8 to 18, these hooks cover every bait type. Longer than usual storage packs keep the line straight. The hair length, at 12 mm from hook bend to end of hair loop, is about right for baits like single 8 mm pellets. Interestingly, the swivel point of the hair can be adjusted with a silicon sleeve on the hook shank for optimum presentation. Comes in packs with eight hooks.
