GROUNDBAIT BOWLS – TESTED

Tested by Dave Coster

GARBOLINO SUPER G

£12.99

There are standard and large sizes under this heading, plus this large version with a zip top lid. It’s designed to keep groundbait shielded from the elements and can easily accommodate 4 kg of prepared mixes. Made from an EVA material and with carry handles, this product suits general groundbait mixing and storage. It collapses away neatly and doesn’t take up much room in a carryall. On the downside the main bowl’s top rim has no rigid reinforcement so this design doesn’t keep it shape very well.
SCORE: 25/30

MIDDY TEAM CLASS

£8.99

Medium size mixing bowl with no handles. It does have a wire lined top rim to keep its working shape and it’s made from tough 420-denier material with a rubberised lining. Groundbait can be mixed evenly in the rounded shape and maximum capacity is around 3 kg once the mix is prepared. This basic bowl is lightweight and collapses down very compactly for easy storage. Middy Gold tackle dealers are likely to sell this product for around £4.99, which makes it a far better proposition.
SCORE: 25/30

PRESTON INNOVATIONS COMPETITION

£6.99

Big capacity 20 litre bowl with webbing carry handles and made from tough high denier material with a rubberised lining. This large bowl is obviously designed with attacking groundbait methods in mind, while there are medium and small sizes for less copious mixes, plus another large version featuring a zip top lid. As its name suggests, this bowl will appeal to match anglers who need to mix up several kilo bags of groundbait. It has a rigid top rim and keeps its shape well. Great price too!
SCORE: 27/30

AVANTI DRI-ZONE

£10.99

Available in small and standard sizes, this fully waterproof bowl has welded seams and carry handles, along with a zip top lid. This small version is quite high standing and can take a good 3 kg of prepared groundbait. Its plastic lined interior doesn’t let any moisture seep out, while the lid can be flipped back and forth to keep its contents shielded from the weather. The top rim is also reinforced to retain good shape and the semi rigid bowl doesn’t collapse either. Neat swiveling handles are another bonus.
SCORE: 28/30

BEST BUY

KORUM LARGE GROUNDBAIT BOWL

£12.99

This is the large 35 cm width bowl, while there’s also a standard 20 cm version. This spacious model has a zip top lid, a wipe clean main compartment and a detachable inner liner – with Velcro fastening. The latter feature is very good, allowing the rubberised liner to be completely removed for cleaning purposes. Also offers neat carry handles and a rubberised protective covering on its base. A top quality product with a heavily reinforced top rim and lid to keep groundbait in top condition.
