The RidgeMonkey RM-Tec Mainlines come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

THE new RidgeMonkey RM-Tec Mainlines have been developed in conjunction with top carp angler Dave Levy and former distance casting World record holder Terry Edmonds.

RM-Tec Mono is a go-anywhere, all-rounder carp mono that lends itself just as easily to fishing down the edge as it does to punching out to extreme range on an inland ‘sea’.

Available in clear, brown and green, on handy, 1,200-metre spools it’s a low-stretch, sinking mono with superior casting qualities, for when you need to ‘punch out’.

A low-maintenance and reliable line with high abrasion resistance, the choice of colours allows you to opt for your personal preference, in 0.35 mm (12 lb), 0.38 mm (15 lb) and 0.42 mm (18 lb).

If you’re fishing for heavily pressured fish that have seen everything – they might not see this!

RM-Tec Fluoro is a sinking, fluorocarbon coated line and another superior caster, with that important low stretch for more direct contact and improved bite detection.

Being high density, thanks to the fluoro coating, it fishes down and out of the way, hugging bottom contours, where it’s less likely to be detected by wary fish.

Available on 1,000-metre spools, it comes in 0.33 mm (15 lb) and 0.37 mm (20 lb).

Rigorously tested across Europe on all types of waters, from small ponds to huge expanses and snaggy rivers, it has already landed fish to over 70 lb from a variety of countries, making RidgeMonkey excited about this launch.

With quality knots, both lines will break at well above their stated breaking strains, too. Look out for them next month.

Prices: RM-Tec Mono £18.99. RM-Tec Fluoro £24.99.
